Prokuplje is a city and administrative center of the Toplica District in southern Serbia. Archaeological evidence indicates habitation since the 6th millennium BC, making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the region. The area contains significant Roman archaeological remains, and the town was known as Ürgüp during Ottoman rule before incorporation into the Kingdom of Serbia in 1878. [1][2][3]
