Kaljaja, Balovac

Late antique fortification southeast of the village of Balovac in the municipality of Podujevo, Kosovo [1] [2] [3] [4]. The irregular trapezoid-shaped fortress was built of cut stone and brick with lime mortar bonding [1]. Walls are preserved up to 4 metres in places, with towers at the east, south, and west ends, and a gate flanked by two towers on the north wall [1] [5]. The remains follow the terrain configuration [1]. Designated a cultural heritage site on 1 March 1986, under the protection of the Republic of Serbia [1].
