Torre de Almofala

Torre de Almofala is a Roman monument in Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, Portugal, originally constructed as a temple, believed to have been inspired by the Temple of Julius Caesar in the Roman Forum [1] [2]. The site is associated with the Roman settlement of Civitas Cobelcorum [3]. Later adapted as a military watchtower, the tower stands amid archaeological remains attesting to a broader Roman city [3] [4]. An interpretation centre now displays findings from excavations at the site [5].
