Roman Villa of Frielas

The Roman Villa of Frielas is located in the parish of Frielas, municipality of Loures, within the Lisbon District of Portugal [1]. The villa fell under the territory of Olisipo, the Roman settlement that extended from Lisbon south to Torres Vedras north [1]. Evidence suggests the site was re-used during the medieval period under Islamic occupation of Portugal [1]. Archaeological excavations began in 1997 and continue today over approximately 3,500 square metres [1]. Since 2012, the villa has been classified as a Site of Public Interest (Sítio de Interesse Público) [1].
