Sitio Arqueológico Chavín de Huántar

Chavín de Huántar is an archaeological temple complex in Peru's Ancash Region, 434 km north of Lima at 3,180 m elevation [1]. Built as early as 1200 BC and occupied until 400–500 BC, it served as the administrative and religious center of the pre-Inca Chavín culture [1]. The structures contain a complex network of interior galleries illuminated by light through strategically placed ducts [1]. The site features the monolithic Lanzón, a carved stone standing 4.5 metres high representing a deity with feline features [1].
