Hualpayunca

Hualpayunca is a pre-Inca archaeological citadel in the Obas District of the Huanuco region, Peru, situated between 3,700 and 3,800 meters above sea level on the right side of the Huarman gorge. Dating to the Late Intermediate Period (c. 1000-1400 AD), the site name possibly derives from the Quechua words "wallpa" (hen) and "yunka" (warm Andean slope). The high-altitude ruins are located approximately 10 km from the town of Obas and are notable for hosting nesting Andean condors due to their elevated position.
