Sikri Stupa

Built 3rd-4th century AD, the Sikri Stupa is a Kushan-period Buddhist temple complex in Gandhara featuring 13 carved narrative panels depicting events from the life of Buddha Shakyamuni. The panels include the Dipankara Jataka, showing Buddha's past incarnations, and depict him sitting on a grass mat in most scenes but not in the Trayastrimsa heaven representation. Restoration began while Harold Arthur Deane was assigned to the North-West Frontier Province, with three photos from around 1890 documenting the earliest panel order[1]. The restored panels are now displayed at the Lahore Museum.
