Banbhore

Banbhore is an ancient city dating to the 1st century BCE, located in Sindh, Pakistan on the N-5 National Highway east of Karachi [1]. It originated during the Scytho-Parthian era and later came under Muslim control from the 8th to the 13th century before being abandoned [1]. The site contains one of the earliest known mosques in the region, dating to 727 AD [1]. Major excavations were conducted from 1958 to 1964 under archaeologist F.A. Khan [1]. In 2004, the site was submitted for UNESCO World Heritage status [1].
