Veluška Tumba

Veluska Tumba is a Neolithic settlement mound near the village of Porodin in the Pelagonia valley, North Macedonia, close to Bitola. The site is the type-location for the Velushka-Porodin cultural group (phases I-IV), one of two major Neolithic traditions in Macedonia dated to approximately 6300-4200 BC. Excavations since its discovery in 1978 have uncovered houses with rectangular, square, and trapezoidal ground plans. Ceramics are distinctively decorated with white-painted angular triangles, zigzag lines, and Z- and sigma-shaped motifs. Pottery, tools, and ritual objects are housed in the Museum of Bitola.
