Stobi

Stobi was an ancient Paeonian city strategically positioned where the Erigon (Crna River) meets the Axios (Vardar), on the vital trade route linking the Danube to the Aegean Sea[1]. Conquered by Macedon, it later became the capital of the Roman province of Macedonia Salutaris[1]. The city's location at this river confluence made it a crucial center for both commerce and military operations throughout antiquity[1]. In early times, the chief town and seat of the Paeonian kings was Bylazora, but later the seat of the kings was moved to Stobi[1].
