North MacedoniaOhrid, known in antiquity as Lychnidos, is one of the oldest settlements in Europe, located on the shores of Lake Ohrid in North Macedonia [1] [2] [3]. Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979-1980, the city preserves over 2,500 sq m of frescoes and more than 800 Byzantine icons [1] [2]. Often called the "Jerusalem of the Balkans," it was historically noted for having 365 churches [3].
