Scupi

Scupi is an ancient Roman city located 3 km north of modern Skopje, North Macedonia, established as a legionary camp in the late 1st century BC on the site of an older Dardanian settlement. It received colonial status as Colonia Flavia Scupinorum around 84/85 AD and became the capital of Dardania province. The city was among the largest Roman settlements in the Balkans, featuring a theater, basilica with mosaic floors, public bathhouses, and extensive necropolises with approximately 1,000 graves. A catastrophic earthquake in 518 AD destroyed the city entirely.
