Trajan's Forum

Trajan's Forum was the last and largest of Rome's Imperial Fora, designed by Apollodorus of Damascus and dedicated in January 112 AD. Built with spoils from the Dacian Wars, the complex required excavating over 300,000 cubic meters of rock between the Quirinal and Capitoline Hills. It included the 600-foot Basilica Ulpia, twin Greek and Latin libraries, and the 45-meter Trajan's Column depicting 2,500 carved figures of the Dacian campaigns. Emperor Constantius II called it one of Rome's most splendid creations during his 357 AD visit.
