Tomb of Funeral Beds - Necropolis of Banditaccia

The Tomb of Funeral Beds (Tomba dei Letti Funebri) is a 6th-century BC Etruscan tomb within Tumulo II at the Banditaccia Necropolis in Cerveteri, Italy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tomb is named for its carved stone funerary beds that distinguish between sexes: women's beds feature triangular raised sections at both ends, while men's beds adopt the klinal (couch) form. In dual burials, the husband was placed on the left side and the wife on the right when viewed from the entrance. The necropolis spans 400 hectares and contains about 1,000 tombs dating from the 9th century BC.
