Ocriticum

Ocriticum was an Italic and Roman sacred site near modern Cansano in the Abruzzo region of Italy, flourishing from the late 4th century BC to the 2nd century AD. The site contains three temples across two levels: an Italic-era temple to Hercules (4th c. BC), a Roman temple to Jupiter (1st c. AD), and a sacellum of Ceres and Venus (2nd c. BC). Excavations yielded votive offerings, terracotta figurines including the "Goddess of Cansano," and bronze Hercules statues. The nearby mansio Jovis Larene, marked on the Tabula Peutingeriana, served as a way station for pilgrims and travelers.
