Coom Wedge Tomb

Coom Wedge Tomb is a prehistoric megalithic burial monument on the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland, dating to approximately 4000-2500 BC at the Neolithic-Bronze Age transition. The west-east aligned structure measures about 5 metres long and 1.5 metres wide, with a 3-metre burial chamber covered by a single slab and an open antechamber flanked by three large stones on each side. Excavations in 1965-66 found only a short flint flake and no traces of burials. Also known as Labbydermot (Dermot's Bed), the tomb is linked to the Fenian Cycle myth of Diarmuid and Grainne, who reportedly sheltered here while fleeing Fionn mac Cumhaill.
