Yerokambos

An ancient Minoan cemetery on the south coast of central Crete, near the village of Lendas, south of the Asterousia mountains. Three tholos tombs have been excavated at the site: double tombs I/IA at Papoura and II/IIA at Yerokambos to the west of Lendas, and tomb III at Zervos to the east. Built in Early Minoan I (c. 3100 BC), the tombs remained in use through Early Minoan II and into Middle Minoan IA. Tomb II yielded 124 obsidian pieces including 115 prismatic blades, and room AN contained 119 complete vessels with sherds representing 524 more, accumulated over centuries of burial activity.
