Troullos

Troullos is a Minoan settlement site forming the easternmost section of the ancient town of Archanes in central Crete, active from Middle Minoan II to Late Minoan I (c. 1875-1450 BC). First excavated by Sir Arthur Evans, then by Spyridon Marinatos, and most recently by J. and E. Sakellarakis, the site revealed paved courtyards, multi-storeyed buildings, ashlar walls, and a light-well. Finds including offering tables, human and animal figurines, and double-axe bases suggest the presence of a small palace or palatial extension of exceptional significance.
