Archanes

Archanes is an archaeological site in central Crete representing a major Minoan settlement [1]. The settlement was an important regional hub, connected by ancient roads to Juktas, Anemospilia, Xeri Kara and Vathypetro [1]. Archaeological excavations led by archaeologists Giannis and Efi Sakellarakis uncovered remains including the Archaeological Collection of Archanes, established in 1993 [2]. Evidence indicates ancient Archanes spread over the same area as the modern town [1].
