Altar of Zeus Agoraios

Built in the 4th century BC, the Altar of Zeus Agoraios is a white marble altar in the Ancient Agora of Athens [1] [2]. Measuring 9m deep and 5.5m wide, it was among the first monuments uncovered during the 1931 excavations by the American School of Classical Studies at Athens [1] [3]. Mason marks from the Augustan period indicate it was relocated from the Pnyx to its current location [1] [2] [4].
