Wooston Castle

Wooston Castle is an Iron Age multivallate hillfort overlooking the River Teign valley in Devon, designated a Scheduled Monument. The inner enclosure measures roughly 160 by 140 metres, with four lines of defense including banks, ditches, and a rock-cut hollow way winding between defensive ramparts. LiDAR surveys revealed the full extent of outworks extending 200m southward, previously hidden beneath coniferous plantation planted in the 1960s-70s. Geophysical surveys identified evidence of possible metalworking and internal structures.
