EnglandThe Salisbury Museum, founded in 1860 by Dr Richard Fowler, is housed in The King's House, a Grade I listed building in the Cathedral Close. It holds one of Britain's most important archaeological collections, including prehistoric material from Stonehenge, the Pitt Rivers Wessex Collection, and the Amesbury Archer. A Heritage Lottery Fund-supported Wessex Gallery opened in 2014, telling the story of Salisbury from prehistoric times to the Norman Conquest.
