Slapton Castle

Slapton Castle is an Iron Age hill fort situated on a promontory near Slapton in Devon, England, at approximately 65 metres above sea level overlooking Slapton Ley. The fort covers roughly one acre and is designated as a Scheduled Monument. Despite cultivation since at least 1946, the hillfort preserves features relating to the development and use of the monument. It forms part of a network of Iron Age fortifications in the South Hams region of Devon, positioned to command views of the coastline and the largest natural freshwater lake in southwest England.
