Seaton Down

Seaton Down is an Iron Age promontory hill fort in Devon, England, situated approximately 125 metres above sea level. The fort features a large linear rampart cutting off a promontory, using the steep natural defences on three sides of the spur overlooking Holyford Brook. Excavations in the 1960s revealed occupation from the 1st to 4th centuries AD, including an Iron Age round house and a Roman bathhouse with hypocaust heating. In 2013, the Seaton Down Hoard of 22,888 Roman coins was discovered on the hill by a metal detectorist, making it one of the largest such finds in Britain.
