Greater Ridgeway

The Greater Ridgeway is an ancient trackway crossing southern England from Dorset to Norfolk, following chalk upland routes used since prehistory. During Roman Britain (1–500 AD), it served as a major route connecting settlements across the chalk downs. The combined modern footpath follows sections of the Icknield Way—one of Britain's oldest recorded road systems—and other ancient ways.
