Cullompton

Cullompton is a town in Mid Devon, England, with its earliest evidence of occupation from the Roman period [1]. Two Roman forts were discovered on St Andrew's Hill in 1984 through aerial photography [1]. The earlier, smaller fort was replaced by a larger one whose ramparts survive as field boundaries [1]. Cullompton appears in Alfred the Great's will as Columtune, left to his youngest son Aethelweard [1] [2].
