Castle an Dinas, St Columb Major

Castle an Dinas is an Iron Age hillfort at the summit of Castle Downs near St Columb Major in Cornwall, dating to the 3rd-2nd century BC[1]. It comprises three concentric rings of ditches and ramparts, situated at approximately 216 meters (708 ft) above sea level[1]. The site is considered one of the most important hillforts in southwest Britain[1]. During the early 1960s, it was excavated by a team led by Dr Bernard Wailes of the University of Pennsylvania[1]. Tradition associates Castle an Dinas with King Arthur, who according to legend rode from this hunting lodge during the Tregoss Moor hunt[2].
