Fernacre

One of Cornwall's largest stone circles, located on Bodmin Moor northeast of St Breward. The oval monument measures 46 x 44 metres and contains approximately 70 irregularly shaped granite stones, with 39 still standing. Aubrey Burl identified Fernacre and nearby Stannon Circle as among the oldest on the moor, dating to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age. Roger Mercer's 1968 excavation recovered cord-ornamented pottery, querns, flints, and two greenstone axes indicating substantial tree clearance. The circle aligns with Brown Willy at the equinox sunrise.
