Berry Ring

Berry Ring (also known as Bury Ring) is an Iron Age univallate hillfort about 3.2 km south-west of Stafford in Staffordshire, on elevated ground north of the village of Billington. The roughly oval defences follow the contours of the ground and enclose about 3 hectares. The outer ditch is notably large, up to 18 m wide and 4.7 m deep, with a counterscarp bank most visible in the north-west where it stands 1 m high and 14 m wide. The original entrance is thought to lie in the south, though sand and gravel extraction has obscured its features. A spring-fed pond survives within the fort at the north-east side.
