EnglandAquae Arnemetiae was a Roman spa town in Britannia, now Buxton, Derbyshire, occupied from c. 75-410 AD. Its name means "Waters of Arnemetia," honoring a Celtic goddess of the sacred grove. Along with Aquae Sulis (Bath), it was one of only two Roman bath towns in Britain. The geothermal spring rises from 1 km underground, producing a million litres daily at a steady 27 degrees C.
