Drakelow Hillfort

A small multivallate Iron Age hillfort on a steep-sided promontory at the southern end of Kinver Edge, in Wolverley and Cookley parish, Worcestershire. The defences include two substantial cross-banks curving northwest to southeast across the neck of the spur, while the remaining three sides rely on naturally precipitous slopes. The internal area covers approximately 2 hectares. A rotary quern from the Iron Age, used for grinding grain into flour, has been found on the site. The hillfort dates to the period between the 6th century BC and mid-1st century AD and is a Scheduled Monument.
