Thor's Cave

Thor's Cave is a natural cavern located in the Manifold Valley of the White Peak in Staffordshire, England [1]. Situated in a steep limestone crag, the cave entrance forms a symmetrical arch 7.5 metres wide and 10 metres high, prominently visible around 80 metres above the valley floor [1]. It is classified as a karst cave and can be reached by an easy stepped path from the Manifold Way [1]. Archaeological evidence dates its use to approximately 9650 BC, making it a Mesolithic-period site [2]. A second entrance known as the "West Window" leads to Thor's Fissure Cavern [1].
