Chapel of Osiris

The Chapel of Osiris-Ptah Neb-ankh ('Lord of Life') is a 25th Dynasty sandstone shrine at Karnak, built by Kushite pharaohs Taharqa and Tantamani in the 7th century BC. Located south of Karnak's Tenth Pylon and east of the avenue of ram-headed sphinxes, the chapel consists of two nearly square chambers decorated with shallow reliefs showing the pharaohs performing ritual offerings to various gods. Originally discovered by locals in 1875, it was partially restored by Maurice Pillet in 1921-22. Recent excavations revealed mudbrick enclosure walls, extensions of the cultic area, and ceramics indicating continuous ritual use from the New Kingdom through the Ptolemaic era.
