The tumulus has never been excavated and this will not change in the foreseeable future [1] [2]. A smaller adjacent mound, the "Tomb of the Queen," investigated in the 1950s, yielded clay vessels with bull-head decorations and a rider-and-horse sculpture [3] [4]. Modern non-destructive surveys have documented an extensive Iron Age cult site and settlement landscape around the mound [1].
