The Skopje Aqueduct is the only aqueduct in North Macedonia, located in the Vizbegovo neighbourhood 2 km northwest of central Skopje. Approximately 388 metres of the structure survive, featuring 55 arches built of stone and brick. Its construction date remains debated: theories attribute it to Roman times (1st century AD, supplying the settlement of Scupi), the Byzantine era under Emperor Justinian I, or the 16th-century Ottoman period for hamam baths. Historical traveller records from 1560 noted 60 openings. The aqueduct transported spring water from Lavovec and remained in use until the 18th century.
