Inca archaeological site at 2,700m elevation built in the mid-15th century under Pachacutec, located 5 km southeast of Machu Picchu along the Inca Trail. The name means 'Forever Young' in Quechua, after a local orchid species. The complex features upper and lower housing sectors connected by stone staircases, over 40 agricultural terraces, a defensive tower with seven windows, and ritual water fountains. Discovered between 1940-1942 by Paul Fejos' expedition and named by archaeologist Julio C. Tello. It served as a food storehouse for the surrounding Machu Picchu region.
