Wat'a, Cusco

Wat'a (Quechua for "island") is an archaeological zone in the Cusco Region, Anta Province, Huarocondo District, situated atop the Pachar ravine north of Huarocondo. The complex comprises five sections: Wat'aq'asa, Willkapata, Qhawarina, Qullqa, and Saksaywaman Pata, featuring enclosures, platforms, and ceremonial sites. Saksaywaman Pata was declared National Cultural Heritage of Peru in 2003. A 2015 restoration initiative involving the Cusco Department of Culture and local communities began clearing vegetation to reveal the site's full structural extent.
