Huayna Picchu

Huayna Picchu is a mountain in Peru's Cusco Region, Urubamba Province, Machupicchu District, around which the Urubamba River bends[1]. It rises dramatically over Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas, standing approximately 260 metres (850 ft) higher than the famous citadel below[1]. The Inca constructed a steep trail up the mountain's side, leading to temples and terraces at its summit[1]. The peak reaches 2,693 metres (8,835 ft) above sea level[1]. Evidence suggests this temple complex was built during the Inca period between 1000 and 1500 AD[1].
