Noviomagus Reginorum, meaning 'the New Port,' was the Roman name for modern Chichester in West Sussex, England, and served as the capital of the Civitas Reginorum. Established as a military supply base around AD 43-44 for the Second Augustan Legion under Vespasian, it was abandoned by the military by AD 47 and developed as a civilian town under client king Cogidubnus. Late 2nd-century stone walls enclosed a 100-acre polygon, later rebuilt in mortar and flint with bastions. Notable features include a temple to Neptune and Minerva, public baths now preserved beneath the Novium Museum, and an amphitheatre east of the walls.
