GreeceThe Funerary Naiskos of Aristonautes is a monumental grave marker dating to c. 350-325 BC, found near the Dipylon Gate in the Kerameikos cemetery of ancient Athens. Made of Pentelic marble and standing 2.48 m tall, it depicts Aristonautes, son of Archenautes from the deme of Halai, as a hoplite in combat posture wearing a breastplate, chlamys, and helmet. The sculpture marks the transition between Classical and Hellenistic art and is now in the National Archaeological Museum of Athens.
