Gårdlösa

Iron Age settlement site in Smedstorp parish, Skane, Sweden, inhabited briefly during the late Nordic Bronze Age and continuously from the 1st century BC to the 11th century AD. In 1949 a woman's grave from the Roman Iron Age was found containing a silver fibula with a runic inscription. Excavations from 1963 to 1976 uncovered house foundations, grave fields, and a shrine, yielding rich material enabling cross-domain studies of the inhabitants' social, economic, and religious life. Features include stone circles, cobble-clad graves, and a circular stone formation from the Vendel or Viking Age.
