Eketorp

Eketorp is an Iron Age fort on southeastern Öland, Sweden, rebuilt and enlarged during the Medieval period. Throughout history it functioned as a defensive ringfort, a medieval safe haven, and later a cavalry garrison [1]. In the 20th century it was further reconstructed to become a popular tourist site and medieval battle re-enactment location [1]. Notably, it is the only one of 19 known prehistoric fortifications on Öland to have been fully excavated, yielding over 24,000 individual artifacts [1]. The surrounding southern Öland region holds UNESCO World Heritage status [1].
