Uppåkra Temple

Remains of an Iron Age ritual building excavated 2000-2004 at Uppakra, south of Lund in Scania, Sweden [1] [2]. The 13 x 6.5 m building was rebuilt six times on the same plan, with a central elevated section on four pillars [1]. Excavators found roughly 200 gold foil figures (gullgubbar) and a bronze-silver beaker decorated with gold leaf [1]. Scholar Lars Larsson called it "the first Scandinavian building for which the term 'temple' can be justly claimed" [1] [2].
