Montjuïc Castle

Montjuic Castle is a military fortress atop Montjuic hill in Barcelona, Spain, originally built in just 30 days during the Reapers' War in 1640. Redesigned by engineer Juan Martin Cermeno in 1751, its cannons were later turned against Barcelona itself during internal conflicts. The castle served as a political prison, and Catalan president Lluis Companys was executed there in 1940. Transferred to Barcelona City Council in 2007, it now functions as a cultural heritage site with exhibitions and panoramic views.
