Empúries

Empúries (Greek: Emporion) was an ancient Greek city founded in 575 BC by colonists from Phocaea on the Mediterranean coast of Catalonia, Spain [1]. After Hannibal's invasion of Gaul from Iberia in 218 BC, Roman forces occupied the city, marking the beginning of the Roman conquest of Hispania [1].
