T'akaq

T'akaq is a nearly 4,000-metre-high (13,123 ft) mountain and archaeological site in the Huanuco Region of Peru, located 3.5 km north of Chavinillo in Yarowilca Province. Considered one of the most important archaeological sites of the province, it features stone structures associated with the Yarowilca culture (c. 1100-1450 CE), a pre-Inca civilization of the Late Intermediate Period known for fortified settlements, mortuary towers, and chullpas across the Alto Maranon highlands. The Quechua name T'akaq derives from t'akay, meaning "to scatter" or "to spread".
