Quillarumi

An archaeological site with rock paintings on a mountain slope west of Huanuco, Peru, at an elevation of 2,463 metres. The name derives from Quechua "killa" (moon) and "rumi" (stone). The paintings feature red ochre zoomorphic and geometric figures, including a remarkably detailed depiction of a paper wasp (Polistes sp.) depositing an egg in its nest, with identifiable anatomical features such as curved mandibles, antennae, and two pairs of wings. The site represents an important example of rock art in the Huallaga river basin region.
