Tikra

Tikra is an archaeological site in Peru's Huanuco Region, Lauricocha Province, situated on the slopes of Pitaq Mach'ay northeast of Jesus. The site features circular buildings and square or rectangular burial towers known as chullpas, characteristic of pre-Incan Andean funerary traditions. The name derives from Quechua tikray, meaning "to turn upside down". Tikra was declared a National Cultural Heritage site by Resolucion Directoral No. 952/INC on September 20, 2001.
