Museo Nacional de Antropología

The Museo Nacional de Antropologia in Mexico City is the largest and most visited museum in Mexico, located within Chapultepec Park. Designed by architect Pedro Ramirez Vazquez, the building was constructed in 19 months and inaugurated on September 17, 1964 by President Adolfo Lopez Mateos. Its iconic 'paraguas' (umbrella) fountain dominates the central courtyard, designed in the style of Maya ceremonial centers. The museum houses eleven anthropology galleries covering pre-Columbian civilizations including Teotihuacan, Toltec, Mexica, Oaxaca, Gulf Coast, and Maya cultures, with the Aztec Stone of the Sun as its most celebrated artifact.
