Chactún

Chactún is a Classic period Maya archaeological site in Campeche, Mexico, located within the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve [1]. The site covers approximately 54 acres (22 ha) in the Yucatán Peninsula lowlands, situated between the Rio Bec and Chenes regions [2]. It features large pyramids, plazas, and structures including the "Temple of the Columns," as well as ball courts and numerous sculpted stone stelae and altars [3]. The site exhibits distinct architectural differences from neighboring Maya cities that remain unexplained [1].
